Sheriff Johnny Philpot reported Ronnie Lee O'Neal, 43, and Laverne O'Neal, 39, were booked into the Sequoyah County Jail on charges of endeavoring to manufacture a controlled dangerous substance, cultivation of marijuana, possession of a firearm in commission of a felony, possession of a controlled dangerous substance with intent to distribute, possession of a controlled dangerous substance in the presence of a minor child, possession of a police scanner in commission of a felony, possession of marijuana and possession of drug paraphernalia.
Both the O'Neals are being held without bond.
Philpot reported deputies and investigators served a search warrant on the O'Neal residence, northeast of Vian, early Tuesday.
"During the search investigators reported finding chemicals and equipment commonly used in the manufacture of methamphetamine," Philpot reported. "Investigators also reported finding substances appearing to be methamphetamine and substances appearing to be marijuana, along with items of paraphernalia commonly associated with the use and distribution of controlled dangerous substances. Firearms were also found during the search."
Philpot said investigators also reported finding a high-tech video surveillance system in operation. "Investigators reported the surveillance system was monitoring any approach made to the residence, giving the occupants advance warning of unwanted visitors such as law enforcement officers," Philpot said. "A radio scanning the frequencies of local law enforcement agencies was also found in operation inside the residence at the time the search warrant was executed."
Investigators said a 15-month-old child was also present in the home at the time the warrant was served. The child was placed in the custody of family members.
