WEBBERS FALLS - It was a day of milestones for the Webbers Falls Lady Warriors as they won three games on Thursday to advance to the regional playoffs.

The Lady Warriors claimed their 20th win of the season and also won the school's first-ever district championship in slowpitch softball by topping Bokoshe 8-4 in the final game of the day.

Head coach Mark Weatherton said solid fielding is what carried the Lady Warriors to their three wins at the Class A district tournament.

"I thought our defense was really solid all day long. We played 21 innings and only gave up nine runs, so that's pretty good," said Weatherton. "We weren't patient batting at times and that hurt us offensively, but our defense carried us."

In the championship game, No. 9-ranked Webbers Falls scored three times in the top of the first inning and held off Bokoshe to improve its record to 20-7 on the season.

All 10 Lady Warriors had at least one hit and Rami Toddy led the way by going 3-for-4 with two RBIs and two runs. Lauren Martin and Angel Leopard both had a pair of hits while Kimmy Carter, Courtney Terrell, Cassie Rhoden, Sydney Graves, Jessica Hayes, Rachel Vinson and Connie Brown all hit safely in the victory.

Webbers Falls 12, Bokoshe 5

The Lady Warriors stormed to a 10-0 lead after three innings while handing Bokoshe its first loss on Thursday at the double-elimination tournament.

Webbers Falls scored five runs in the bottom of the first and added three more in the second before scoring twice in the third inning.

Shortstop/third baseman Carter led the offensive assault by batting 3-for-3, driving in two runs and scoring three runs. Martin, who plays rover, batted 3-for-4 with four runs scored.

Webbers Falls 2, Braggs 0

The Lady Warriors won a defensive struggle in their first outing of the day with Toddy providing the offense.

Carter was already on base when Toddy smacked a two-run home run in the bottom of the first inning. The Lady Warriors blanked Braggs the rest of the way to make the lead stand up.

Braggs was later eliminated with a loss to Bokoshe.

Webbers Falls will move on to the Class A regional playoffs at Moss. The Lady Warriors are scheduled to meet No. 5-ranked Moss at 1 p.m. Thursday. Tupelo and Whitesboro are the other two teams in the tournament.

The champion and runner-up will both advance to next week's state tournament.
