The Sequoyah County Bikers Making A Difference (BMAD) is sponsoring a May 6 motorcycle show as part of Sallisaw's first Diamond Daze Festival, slated from May 3 through 6 at the Sallisaw Municipal Airport on U.S. Highway 59.

The motorcycle show is set from 1 to 3 p.m. on May 6. No entry fee is required, but BMAD will be accepting donations of any amount at the festival to help the group continue their work of helping others in need.

Buddy Holt who works with BMAD said that BMAD has made a big difference in the lives of several families in Sequoyah County who have been faced with medical and other kinds of hardships. BMAD has also sponsored and assisted with various fundraisers for individuals and community organizations.

By making a donation of any amount at the car show, those who donate will be given three tickets to vote on first, second, and third choice for the motorcycle that is Best of Show. The winners will be announced at 3:30 p.m. and presented acrylic plaques. The plaques are being sponsored by Corgill Motorsports in Poteau, Fullbright Auto Wash in Sallisaw and Stites Oil Company in Sallisaw.

All local and area bikers are invited to participate in a group fun ride prior to the show. Bikers will meet at 10 a.m. in the parking lot in front of Tractor Supply and Fred's on east Cherokee Street. The group will depart at 10:30 a.m. and will travel to Roland, Marble City, back around Dwight Mission and then to the airport for the 1 p.m. motorcycle show.

A cruise night is also planned for car show and motorcycle show participants later in the evening. BMAD Club President Edward Poindexter and members invite all bikers to participate and join the fun at the festival.

There is no charge for the ride, no entry fee to enter a bike in the motorcycle show and no admission charge to get into the festival.

BMAD noted that they are not responsible for accidents and those participating should ride at their own risk.

After an experiment that lasted several months, the editors at Your TIMES decided this week to end the practice of allowing anonymous comments on our website because most of the comments involve personal attacks and unfounded accusations. These comments do not add information to a story, or add any true insight. While we believe in the free exchange of ideas, it had become evident that was not what was happening in the comment section of our website. Readers can also become fans of Your TIMES on Facebook and may comment on our postings there. Readers are also encouraged to write letters to the editor to the newspaper about matters of public interest. The newspaper circulation is several times that of the web site, so readership is much higher. Letters must include a name and phone number so that we may contact the writer to verify authenticity of the letter. Letters are limited to 500 words and one letter per writer per month is accepted.
