About a year ago I was attacked by a pit bull dog. Since then I have noticed there seem to be more running around than usual. Not a problem if they are kept in a fence, they have insurance etc. and they are not allowed to run lose.
However as of late that does not seem to be what is happening.
I was walking my dog a few weeks ago - he was on his leash - a pit bull knocked down the fence he was behind and attacked us - this time I had a ball bat with me - unfortunately I feel the need to carry protection now - and we were able to fight it off. I did not report this incident as I was still trying to get the other incident out of my mind. Also the owner did get the dog when he heard the barking.
Today, I learned one of the men picking up trash on the city truck was attacked by a pit bull - he had to jump up on the truck to keep from being mauled.
I only have this to say. Something needs to be done before some child gets killed. Children have been mauled and almost killed in this state and nothing has been done to stop it.
Due to special interest the laws to protect the people have been watered down.
Some of these dogs are raised to fight, protect drug interests and other illegal things.
I am sure there are people who disagree with me on this and that is their right.
However as the victim of an attack by these dogs - unprovoked I might add - I strongly urge that something be done to stop this before some child is killed or another child is mauled or another adult is attacked.
It would be a shame if the death of a child or an adult would have to happen before something is done. I fear that this may happen and it may happen right here in our city.
