Gary Doyle Vanzandt, 48, is accused of molesting a 12-year-old girl on several occasions between March and May and of molesting another girl, who was a juvenile at the time, in 1993 and 1997, according to court records filed on July 7.
According to court records, the 12-year-old's father reported on June 19 that his daughter was molested by Vanzandt, who was a family friend. The father told the Sequoyah County Sheriff's office that he witnessed Vanzandt holding his daughter in an inappropriate way.
The girl later told police that Vanzandt had sexually molested her on two different occasions. She told police that the first incident occurred in March at a home northwest of Muldrow. She said the second incident occurred in May at the same home.
According to court records, police interviewed a second victim, now an adult, who said that Vanzandt had molested her when she was nine years old and again when she was 13 years old.
Vanzandt was arrested on July 8 and booked into the Sequoyah County Jail in Sallisaw, where he remains on a $50,000 bond, according to jail records.
