Sequoyah County District Attorney Richard Gray announced Tuesday that two Child Support Enforcement (CSE) Offices have reported record-breaking collections in 2006.
The Sallisaw CSE office, which serves Sequoyah and Adair Counties and is led by Assistant District Attorney Dewayne Littlejohn, has collected $1,120,332. The Tahlequah CSE office, led by Assistant District Attorney Tery DeShong, serves Cherokee and Wagoner Counties, has collected $1,449,622 since January.
"We are looking at numbers for the first four months of 2006 only, and collections have never been higher," Gray said. "The Child Support assistant district attorney lead a staff of dedicated and hard-working employees who are all to be commended. They are the reason we have collected over $2.5 million this year."
The Child Support Enforcement Division (CSED) offices have continued to see monthly collections increase through Gray's tenure as district attorney. The CSED offices account for about one third of all district attorney employees in Gray's District 27. Each year the Department of Human Service (DHS) contracts with local district attorney offices to provide CSED services through their counties.
"Each year I participate in contract negotiations with DHS for the next year's contract," Gray said. "The assistant district attorneys working in my child support offices are excellent and are highly regarded throughout Oklahoma as being experts in their field."
