Classes Will Start Aug. 11 At Roland Public Schools

Randy Wood, superintendent of Roland Public Schools, recently announced that the first day of school for students will be Aug. 11.

Classes will begin at 8:30 a.m. and will dismiss at 3 p.m. Buses will run normal routes, Wood said.

Pre-enrollment for grades pre-kindergarten through 12th will be from 8 a.m. to 3 p.m. Aug. 5. in the principal's office.

Students entering pre-kindergarten must present a complete shot record and a birth certificate indicating they will be four years old on or before Sept. 1. The required shots include three doses of hepatitis B, two doses of hepatitis A, one dose of varicella (chicken pox) or a parental statement of a history of the disease, four DTP, three polio, and one MMR.

Students entering the first through fourth grade should have a complete shot record indicating the following shots, three doses of hepatitis B, two doses of hepatitis A, one dose of varicella or a parent's statement of a history of the disease, five doses or DTP, four polio, and two MMR.

All fifth and sixth grade students should have received immunizations, which include five doses of DTP, four polio, and two MMR.

Students entering the seventh through the 12th grades are required to have a shot record reflecting the following immunizations, three doses of DTP, three polio, two MMR, two or three hepatitis B and for all seventh through 11th grade, two doses of hepatitis A.

All school employees will start the new school year with in-service meeting at 9 a.m. Aug. 8 in the junior high cafeteria, Wood said.
