Woods Brothers Raceway will be back in action on Saturday after a three-week break. The planned session for last week was cancelled after storms brought rain, hail and high winds to the track south of Sallisaw on Highway 59.

To help with the rising cost of traveling to and from the races, there will be racing only on Saturdays. With the $3-plus cost of gas, the expense of filling the tow trucks' gas tanks is about $40. In 10 races, the Saturday-only format will help racers that used to attend the test-and-tune sessions on Friday and come back on Saturday save about $400 during the season.

Saturday's racing will have a new format. First gates will open at 4 p.m. for the normal bracket series with Super Pros six-second cars and the growing No Electronics Class. The Street Class rounds it out for the cars that are not quite a race car and still can be driven on the street.

The big change in the Saturday program will take place after the bracket races are done at about 10:30 p.m. That's when a test-and-tune and heads-up grudge racing will start.

After an experiment that lasted several months, the editors at Your TIMES decided this week to end the practice of allowing anonymous comments on our website because most of the comments involve personal attacks and unfounded accusations. These comments do not add information to a story, or add any true insight. While we believe in the free exchange of ideas, it had become evident that was not what was happening in the comment section of our website. Readers can also become fans of Your TIMES on Facebook and may comment on our postings there. Readers are also encouraged to write letters to the editor to the newspaper about matters of public interest. The newspaper circulation is several times that of the web site, so readership is much higher. Letters must include a name and phone number so that we may contact the writer to verify authenticity of the letter. Letters are limited to 500 words and one letter per writer per month is accepted.
