A Marble City man died in an accident at 3:30 a.m. Friday on Lake View Road one and half miles south of Marble City.

Larry Wayne Cheater, 33, of Marble City was traveling south on Lake View Road in a 1982 Ford Fairmont when he ran off the right side of the road, and struck a bridge abutment, causing the car to roll one and a quarter times, Oklahoma Highway Patrol Trooper Dwayne Walters, said.

Cheater was partially ejected out of the passenger window. He was pinned under the vehicle for about 30 minutes and was freed by Marble City firefighters, Walters said.

Walters said he noticed an odor of alcoholic beverage on the driver.

Cheater was transported by Southwest Emergency Medical Service (EMS) to Sequoyah Memorial Hospital in Sallsiaw where he died from massive injuries, Walters said.

Aaron Pettit, 24, and Travis Cheater, 19, passengers in the vehicle, were transported by Southwest EMS to the hospital where they were treated and released with head and neck injuries, Walters said.

After an experiment that lasted several months, the editors at Your TIMES decided this week to end the practice of allowing anonymous comments on our website because most of the comments involve personal attacks and unfounded accusations. These comments do not add information to a story, or add any true insight. While we believe in the free exchange of ideas, it had become evident that was not what was happening in the comment section of our website. Readers can also become fans of Your TIMES on Facebook and may comment on our postings there. Readers are also encouraged to write letters to the editor to the newspaper about matters of public interest. The newspaper circulation is several times that of the web site, so readership is much higher. Letters must include a name and phone number so that we may contact the writer to verify authenticity of the letter. Letters are limited to 500 words and one letter per writer per month is accepted.
