An alleged hit and run of a bicyclist led to a felony charge against an Oklahoma City man, who is accused of leaving the scene of the accident.
Roy Paul Conn, 54, was charged Tuesday with felony leaving the scene of an accident, according to court records.
At about 6:13 p.m. June 14 Sallisaw officers were dispatched to Cherokee and Interstate 40 at Mr. Jiff's in reference to a hit and run. Officers spoke to the 21-year-old victim who said that he was riding his bicycle east on Cherokee when a man driving a white sport utility vehicle entered his lane, hitting him in the shoulder with his rearview mirror.
The victim said the driver continued east on Cherokee and the victim saw the vehicle pull into Mr. Jiff's. The victim told police that he approached the driver and knocked on his window to let him know that he had hit him. The victim reported that the man, later identified as Conn, told him to "stay out of the lane." The victim said that Conn then went to leave the scene, hitting him again and knocking his bike down before traveling west on Interstate 40.
The victim told the dispatcher the license plate number on the suspect vehicle and a "be-on-the-lookout" bulletin was issued. Conn was later apprehended in Gore and taken back to Sallisaw.
Police reported that the victim was treated for bruising to his left shoulder at Sequoyah Memorial Hospital in Sallisaw and released.
