A Sallisaw man was charged with malicious injury to property after allegedly vandalizing several vehicles in Sallisaw.

Quincy Haymer Jr., 19, was charged June 14 in Sequoyah County District Court in Sallisaw with the felony count.

Sallisaw Police Detective Sandra Girdner reported that a woman was checking her sister's home in Sallisaw on March 23 when she discovered that several vehicles had been vandalized. The woman reported that mirrors had been broken off the vehicles, the vehicles' tires were flattened, and the vehicles' paint had been damaged.

On May 7 the vehicles' owner told police that she received information that Haymer and his juvenile cousin, who now resides in Minnesota, had gone to her residence along with another woman. The woman told police that Haymer and the juvenile wanted to rob the home, then saw a security sign and decided to vandalize the vehicles instead. The woman reported seeing Haymer kick off one of the mirrors on the vehicle, and when she was leaving the scene she heard him kick off another mirror. The woman reported that she wasn't involved in the vandalism, but did not report the incident.

Girdner reported that two vehicles, a 1998 Cadillac and a 2003 Mazda, received over $5,500 in damage.
