The extended family of Arthur "Winchester" and Hettie Taylor Miller are celebrating family and statehood this summer with a family reunion.

The event will begin on June 30 with a dinner trip to Fort Smith, Ark., and continue throughout the weekend with activities for all ages.

For the second time an auction will be held for a family quilt made by cousin Vicki Lessley Little and a silent auction will be held for hand-made items by the Miller cousins.

In recent years cousins from California, Washington, Arizona, Texas, Arkansas, Missouri, Georgia, and Ohio have met with Oklahoma Miller cousins at Central High School. Cemetery treks, Saturday night dances and Sunday carry-in dinners are all combined with exchange of family pictures and information.

This year a softball game is scheduled as well as ice cream making and crafts for children. We are hoping to "shake the bushes" this year with local cousins.

Any Miller relatives who have not participated are encouraged to do so. Also, we are looking for more pictures of our beloved ancestors. To register contact Jo Franks Ratliff at jratliff76@sbcglobal.net or 2105 E. 25th St., Tulsa, OK. 74114 or Karen Richardson at karen_dell@hotmail.com or call 918-775-9368. If you have pictures contact Vicki Little @ jvlittle70@aol.com or 70 Trails End Dr., Monroe, Ohio, 45050.

After an experiment that lasted several months, the editors at Your TIMES decided this week to end the practice of allowing anonymous comments on our website because most of the comments involve personal attacks and unfounded accusations. These comments do not add information to a story, or add any true insight. While we believe in the free exchange of ideas, it had become evident that was not what was happening in the comment section of our website. Readers can also become fans of Your TIMES on Facebook and may comment on our postings there. Readers are also encouraged to write letters to the editor to the newspaper about matters of public interest. The newspaper circulation is several times that of the web site, so readership is much higher. Letters must include a name and phone number so that we may contact the writer to verify authenticity of the letter. Letters are limited to 500 words and one letter per writer per month is accepted.
