At a May 22 special meeting, the Muldrow School Board voted to appoint Dowen Green to fill the vacant position of Ward 4 on the board, a school official said.

Green replaces Randy Martin, who resigned last month to pursue a coaching and principal position at the school. Martin was hired as the assistant high school principal, athletic director and boy's basketball coach for the 2006-7 school year.

Green's wife, Bobbi, said her husband, who is known as Dion, graduated from Central High School. Green and his wife have two children, who both attend Muldrow High School. Their son, Tyler Sixkiller, will be in the 10th grade, and their daughter, Dallas Green, will be in the seventh grade.

The couple, who have been married almost 10 years, reside in Muldrow. Bobbi Green said her husband is a superintendent at CDI Construction, which is based in Little Rock, Ark., but works in Springdale, Ark. It is his first time to serve on a school board.

"He's a member of the Muldrow Lions Club," Bobbie said. "He's really active with that."

Bobbie said they also attend Muldrow Baptist Church.

After an experiment that lasted several months, the editors at Your TIMES decided this week to end the practice of allowing anonymous comments on our website because most of the comments involve personal attacks and unfounded accusations. These comments do not add information to a story, or add any true insight. While we believe in the free exchange of ideas, it had become evident that was not what was happening in the comment section of our website. Readers can also become fans of Your TIMES on Facebook and may comment on our postings there. Readers are also encouraged to write letters to the editor to the newspaper about matters of public interest. The newspaper circulation is several times that of the web site, so readership is much higher. Letters must include a name and phone number so that we may contact the writer to verify authenticity of the letter. Letters are limited to 500 words and one letter per writer per month is accepted.
