A recent dispute at a Muldrow home escalated into an altercation and the injury of an eight-month-old baby.

Muldrow Police Chief Tony Lewis said his department received a call at about 1 a.m. Aug. 15 about a domestic dispute at a home on Fifth Street in Muldrow.

A man, woman, and their eight-month-old baby were injured after a party at the home got out of hand, Lewis reported.

Lewis said the couple took the child with them to a friend's home for some type of party when an altercation ensued. Lewis said it is not clear what started the altercation.

Apparently the woman was holding her child when she was pushed down. Lewis said the child sustained abrasion-type injuries to his back, and the child's parents were also injured. The child and his parents were taken to an area hospital where they were treated and released.

Lewis said his department is preparing charges on two or three suspects allegedly responsible for those injured.

"We anticipate filing injury to a minor child (charges) on the suspects, along with assault and battery charges," Lewis said. He said his main concern was the injury of the child.

Lewis would not release the names of the victims or suspects in the case because the police report is not complete and the case is still under investigation, he said.

After an experiment that lasted several months, the editors at Your TIMES decided this week to end the practice of allowing anonymous comments on our website because most of the comments involve personal attacks and unfounded accusations. These comments do not add information to a story, or add any true insight. While we believe in the free exchange of ideas, it had become evident that was not what was happening in the comment section of our website. Readers can also become fans of Your TIMES on Facebook and may comment on our postings there. Readers are also encouraged to write letters to the editor to the newspaper about matters of public interest. The newspaper circulation is several times that of the web site, so readership is much higher. Letters must include a name and phone number so that we may contact the writer to verify authenticity of the letter. Letters are limited to 500 words and one letter per writer per month is accepted.
