Donald D. Whitworth, 52, his wife, Regina Whitworth, 42, and their 19-year-old son, Donnie Whitworth, also known as Donald Dean Whitworth, were arrested and booked into the city jail on charges of possession of marijuana with intent to sell or deliver within 2,000 feet of public school or housing, possession of drug paraphernalia, possession of drug proceeds, maintaining a home in which a controlled dangerous substance is kept, and possession of firearms in the commission of a felony.
The arrests stem from a search warrant served by Sallisaw police at the Whitworth home, located at 214 S. Adams St. in Sallisaw, at about 4:30 p.m. Tuesday, according to a police press release.
About one pound of individually packaged marijuana was seized, along with numerous firearms, $15,150 in cash, and drug paraphernalia. The firearms seized included an assault rifle with bayonet, and a variety of other rifles, shotguns, and handguns, many of which were loaded, according to police reports.
Police reported that one shotgun was confirmed stolen from New Castle in 1993. An additional charge of knowingly concealing stolen property is pending against the suspects, who bonded out of jail on the night of their arrest, police said.
Sallisaw police reported that they notified the Drug Enforcement Administration (DEA) about the case, and the DEA told local authorities that they would assist in the case, according to the police report.
