A benefit auction for leukemia victim Trey Brown, 11, of Muldrow is planned for 7 p.m. Saturday. The auction will be held at Midway Auction between Muldrow and Roland on U.S. Highway 64.

The auctioneers are State Rep. Glen "Bud" Smithson (D-Sallisaw) and Tommy Wright.

The friends and family members planning the auction are trying to raise money so that Brown and his parents may travel to San Antonio, Texas, for a bone marrow transplant.

"He and his family need your help," Kathy Webb of Roland said.

Webb, who is Sequoyah County Election Board secretary, said Trey is the only child of David and Dayla Brown of Muldrow.

Auction organizers are asking for donations for the benefit auction. Webb said that, in order to hold the auction, donations of items, new or used, are needed.

"If you have anything you would like to donate, please call us," Webb said.

Donations may be made by contacting Webb at (918) 427-4671, Ann Weaver at (918) 427-6227 or Susanne Roth at (918) 775-9440.

Webb said barbecue will also be sold at the auction to raise money for the Brown family.

After an experiment that lasted several months, the editors at Your TIMES decided this week to end the practice of allowing anonymous comments on our website because most of the comments involve personal attacks and unfounded accusations. These comments do not add information to a story, or add any true insight. While we believe in the free exchange of ideas, it had become evident that was not what was happening in the comment section of our website. Readers can also become fans of Your TIMES on Facebook and may comment on our postings there. Readers are also encouraged to write letters to the editor to the newspaper about matters of public interest. The newspaper circulation is several times that of the web site, so readership is much higher. Letters must include a name and phone number so that we may contact the writer to verify authenticity of the letter. Letters are limited to 500 words and one letter per writer per month is accepted.
