Dana Tracy, Rural Fire Protection District No. 1 fire chief, said the fire occurred at the home of Scott Butler. Butler's home is located on Lock and Dam 16 Road, northwest of Gore a half-mile off State Highway 10.
Tracy said Engine Company 2, commanded by Lt. Rick Spears, was called to the fire at 4:30 a.m. Before firefighters arrived, Butler and his family were able to escape from their burning home without any injuries, Tracy said.
"Everybody got out OK," he said. "Nobody was hurt."
When firefighters arrived, flames were coming from the second-story bedroom window.
"In my opinion, the engine company's quick action saved the structure from being a total loss," Tracy said.
The fire department sent four pumper trunks and their quick response truck to the fire, and 16 firefighters were on the scene.
The structure of the two-story home sustained about $25,000 in damage, and the contents and personal belongings lost is estimated at $20,000, Tracy said.
He said the bedroom and hall connecting the bedroom received the most damage, and the rest of the home sustained water and smoke damage. He noted that there was a lot of water damage downstairs, but the main frame of the home is in good shape.
Tracy said the cause of the fire is still undetermined in origin. He added that the owner had no insurance.
