Two Pryor residents were recently charged with larceny, in connection with television thefts from multiple Wal-Mart stores, including a TV theft in Sallisaw.
Jerry Wayne Gambol, 44, and Rhesa Larae Roberts, 26, were charged July 19 in Sequoyah County District Court in Sallisaw with felony grand larceny and conspiracy.
According to court records, Sallisaw Police Detective Sandra Girdner reported that a loss prevention employee at Wal-Mart SuperCenter in Sallisaw reported on April 8 that a man and a woman had stolen a 42-inch plasma TV from the store. The employee pulled the surveillance video, which showed a male suspect, now identified as Gambol, use a six-wheeler to load a television from the store.
Two alarms attached to the TV were later located in the bicycle area of the store. The couple proceeded to the garden center exit, and Gambol allegedly said the woman ahead of him, now identified as Roberts, had the receipt. Gambol then took the TV to the parking lot and loaded it in the vehicle before leaving the area.
On June 5, Girdner reportedly obtained information that a couple had been arrested in Pryor in reference to the thefts of TVs from Wal-Mart stores. A search warrant was served at the couple's home and a TV was recovered. Photos of the two matched the descriptions of the suspects from the Sallisaw store. Pryor Police reported that Roberts allegedly admitted that they had stolen TVs in other cities and states, and took them to Idabel, where they were sold.
