CHECOTAH - Amy Smith won a pitchers' duel and Ashley Covington provided the winning hit as Sallisaw topped Checotah 2-0 in 10 innings on Thursday.
The game, which was part of a three-way tripleheader with Hartshorne, was scoreless for the first nine innings until second baseman Covington broke the deadlock with a two-run double in the top of the 10th.
Shelby Morgan led off the inning with a single and moved to second on a sacrifice by Heather McCawley. Molly Hadley's single to right field put runners at first and third for the Lady Diamonds. Covington faked a bunt to draw in the Checotah defense and, on the next pitch, ripped a base hit into left field to drive in the winning runs.
That gave the win to senior pitcher Smith, who went the full 10 innings. The right-hander scattered eight hits while striking out seven and allowing just one walk.
Sallisaw 3, Hartshorne 1
CHECOTAH - In the Lady Diamonds' second outing on Thursday, Ashley Covington again led the way.
Covington collected two RBIs and had two hits as Sallisaw moved to 12-9 on the season. Teammates Amy Smith and Lyndsey Daggs each had two hits and scored a run, while Erica Robertson, Molly Hadley and Shelby Morgan all had one hit apiece.
Smith was the winning pitcher after giving up two hits, walking two and notching six strikeouts for Sallisaw.
The contest was tied 1-1 until the fifth inning, when the Lady Diamonds plated two runs to clinch the victory.
Next up for Sallisaw is a Monday home game against Roland. The Lady Diamonds will celebrate Senior Night after the game, which is slated to begin at 4 p.m.
Gore 3, Vian 0
GORE - The Lady Pirates evened their record at 10-10 as winning pitcher Kera Smith tossed a one-hit shutout against Vian.
Smith improved to 3-2 on the season and got offensive support from teammates Erin Qualls and Caitlin Cawhorn.
Qualls bashed a triple and finished the game with two hits, while Cawhorn doubled in two of Gore's runs.
Sallisaw 7, Vian 4
The Lady Diamonds completed a doubleheader sweep of Vian on Tuesday evening, twice coming from behind to grab a win in the second game.
Sallisaw won the opener 3-2, but fell behind 2-0 in the first inning of the nightcap and later trailed 3-2 in the third inning before rallying for the victory.
A three-run double off the bat of Ashley Covington was the difference. The sophomore cleared the bases with her hit, breaking a 4-4 tie in the bottom of the fourth.
Sallisaw had a total of seven hits in the game and was paced by Molly Hadley's 3-for-3 effort. Erica Robertson had two hits, while Courtney Crooks drove in a pair of runs. Shelby Morgan and Amy Smith also had one RBI each for the Lady Diamonds, who improved to 10-9.
Lyndsey Daggs was the winning pitcher for Sallisaw, working the first four innings before Smith came on to get the save. The two hurlers held Vian to four hits.
Webbers Falls 6, Braggs 0
COUNCIL HILL - Lady Warrior pitcher Lauren Martin was just about perfect on Tuesday, hurling a no-hitter and almost getting a perfect game as Webbers Falls defeated Braggs in a three-way hosted by Midway.
Martin retired 15 of the 16 batters she faced in the five-inning contest with the lone Braggs base-runner reaching on a Webbers Falls error.
Webbers Falls jumped out to a 4-0 lead in the first inning and was not threatened after that.
Webbers Falls 9, Midway 1
COUNCIL HILL - The Lady Warriors won their second game of the day at Midway on Tuesday and evened their record at 7-7 on the season.
Catcher Ramie Toddy powered Webbers Falls offensively by going 1-for-1, driving in two runs and scoring three times. Toddy belted her third homer of the season with a two-run shot in the third inning.
Sequoyah-Tahlequah 5, Gore 0
GORE - Sequoyah led off with a triple and never looked back while handing the Lady Pirates a loss on Tuesday in a three-way with Roland.
Gore gave up three unearned runs, but threatened in the second inning following a Kera Smith single. Lauren McElhaney and Candace Long both drew walks, but the Lady Pirates left the bases loaded.
Sisters Kera and Kendra Smith botted batted 1-for-2 with singles for Gore, while Chelsea Kizzia also hit a single.
Gore 5, Roland 0
GORE - The Lady Pirates had a big fourth inning to get the win in a well-played defensive game on Tuesday.
Erin Qualls led off the fourth with a single and stole second. Kendra Smith hit a one-out double to drive in Qualls. Kera Smith and Caitlin Cawhorn drew walks to load the bases and Macy Moseley recorded an RBI with a blooper behind first base. Carolyn Roark and Lauren McElhaney followed with RBI walks to seal the win.
Qualls, Kendra Smith, Kera Smith, Cawhorn and Moseley each scored a run for Gore, which was limited to three hits in the game by Roland pitcher Katie Matlock. Qualls, Kendra Smith and Moseley had the hits for the Lady Pirates.
Kera Smith pitched a complete game for Gore, striking out six and walking two.
Gore 3, Warner 2
GORE - The Lady Pirates scored all three runs in the first inning and held on to edge Warner on Thursday, Sept. 1.
Kendra Smith, Kera Smith and Caitlin Cawhorn all had RBIs in the opening inning and Kera Smith hurled Gore the win by pitching a comlete-game four hitter.
Erin Qualls was 1-for-1 with a single and a run, while Macy Moseley also singled in the victory.
Gore 11, Webbers Falls 0
GORE - Macy Moseley tossed a no-hitter for Gore as the Lady Pirates run-ruled Webbers Falls during a three-way on Sept. 1.
Caitlin Cawhorn and Kendra Smith both had a pair of hits for Gore, which benefitted from 14 walks, Moelsey and Carolyn Roark each scored twice in the three-inning game.
