Corn has been a member of the organization for almost two years. Last year he was invited along with a delegation to visit Vietnam.
"I find it extremely important to look into the leadership and government styles of different nations. Our nation's representative democracy was structured to ensure that the people get equal representation and I think it is important for the Vietnamese delegation to have the opportunity to see the inner workings of our government," Corn said.
The delegation arrived in Washington, D.C., on Sept. 11. They toured the nation's capitol and then moved on to South Carolina. Oklahoma is the last stop in the delegation's visit.
They arrived in Poteau late Sunday night and then Monday had a full day of touring the many operations in Poteau, including Carl Albert State College, a coal mining operation, and the Kerr Center for Sustainable Agriculture.
Corn escorted the Vietnamese delegation on Tuesday as well, where they eventually ended up in Oklahoma City to tour the Oklahoma City National Memorial. They remained in Oklahoma City through Saturday.
"It has been a great honor to share this experience with the delegation," Corn said. "We tend to take the many aspects of Oklahoma for granted because we see them day in and day out, but this has been an opportunity to experience the same things through the eyes of a different culture," Corn said. "It really has been an amazing experience and I am happy that the Vietnamese members of ACYPL made it a priority to visit our state."
