Dear Editor:

I've held back as long as I could. This is about the road between the Fort Smith bridge and Roland.

How many people are tired of their cars being destroyed due to the poor state of this highway? Every time you go over a bridge on this highway it throws your car sideways and knocks your front end out of alignment. The last time I checked, we all pay taxes for our roads to be safe, so why are we having to pay twice by paying our taxes and having our front end alignments repaired constantly.

Now let's look at the problem of speeding between Roland and Moffett. They have taken the Moffett police off this highway and now it's a speedway. What part of illegal do you not understand? When you speed or break the law you get pulled over and get a ticket.

I would like to stand up for the police departments of Roland and Moffett for doing your job. I've lived here all my life and have never been pulled over between Roland and Moffett, so all you people who break the law expect to be pulled over, be accountable for your actions and don't try to place the blame on the police department. Wake up America. This is why we have laws.

I myself would like to hear from folks out there who are tired of your car being beat up and being run over by people doing 80-plus miles per hour. If you're tired of this, let's let our politicians know. I would like to start this petition here; all you have to do is e-mail me at clemonsfamilyof5@sbcglobal.net.

What is it going to take someone being killed before we have anything done about this problem? Place the Moffett police back on this road so we have some kind of law and order. It's out of control!

After an experiment that lasted several months, the editors at Your TIMES decided this week to end the practice of allowing anonymous comments on our website because most of the comments involve personal attacks and unfounded accusations. These comments do not add information to a story, or add any true insight. While we believe in the free exchange of ideas, it had become evident that was not what was happening in the comment section of our website. Readers can also become fans of Your TIMES on Facebook and may comment on our postings there. Readers are also encouraged to write letters to the editor to the newspaper about matters of public interest. The newspaper circulation is several times that of the web site, so readership is much higher. Letters must include a name and phone number so that we may contact the writer to verify authenticity of the letter. Letters are limited to 500 words and one letter per writer per month is accepted.
