Teachers beware!

Dear Editor:

When a tenured teacher (11 years) can be fired without any proof of guilt - only the word of a four-year-old who was punished in "time out" and an uncle and aunt whose motives I question, then teachers "beware," you may be next.

The teacher has yet to have an opportunity to meet face to face with the parent or the superintendent, who is now at Braggs School. Teachers, he will not support you, best beware, and watch your backs at all times.

The teacher's suspension was communicated by a message left on a recorder. How professional is that?

If the parent truly thought this happened to her son, then why was she not present at the hearing? Only the aunt and uncle were present.

This ordeal was best summed up by the defendant's attorney on the night of the hearing. His summation was, "This is a bunch of bull!"

If you care to have more information on this fiasco and the people involved, give me a call. I am in the phone book.

After an experiment that lasted several months, the editors at Your TIMES decided this week to end the practice of allowing anonymous comments on our website because most of the comments involve personal attacks and unfounded accusations. These comments do not add information to a story, or add any true insight. While we believe in the free exchange of ideas, it had become evident that was not what was happening in the comment section of our website. Readers can also become fans of Your TIMES on Facebook and may comment on our postings there. Readers are also encouraged to write letters to the editor to the newspaper about matters of public interest. The newspaper circulation is several times that of the web site, so readership is much higher. Letters must include a name and phone number so that we may contact the writer to verify authenticity of the letter. Letters are limited to 500 words and one letter per writer per month is accepted.
