Two Sallisaw men were sentenced on Monday to serve time in prison in connection with separate incidents.

Sequoyah County District Attorney Jerry S. Moore announced that Billy Jordan of Sallisaw was sentenced to 20 years in prison for a variety of probation violations. Special District Judge Dennis Sprouse sentenced Jordan, while Kyle Waters, assistant district attorney, represented the state.

Jordan had been on probation for various drug and property crimes and had been allowed to participate in Sequoyah County Drug Court, a program that allows non-violent drug offenders to stay out of prison while they go through a rehabilitative program. While in the program, Jordan tested positive for controlled substances on several occasions, as well as other infractions, Moore reported.

"This outcome shows that participating in drug court is a privilege and, if not treated as such, the privilege will be revoked," Waters said.

In a separate case, Moore announced that Associate District Judge A.J. Henshaw sentenced Robert Risinger of Sallisaw to three years in prison for various probation violations.

Risinger had been on probation for domestic abuse from a 2005 incident. An application to revoke his probation was filed after Risinger was arrested for driving under the influence (DUI). Oklahoma Highway Patrol Trooper Jeremy Weedon arrested Risinger on July 6 for suspicion of DUI. Risinger was later tested and had a blood alcohol content of .20, double the legal limit.
