Joe Harrington of the Eastern Oklahoma Development District (EODD) in Muskogee conducted the hearing. The EODD assists with the application for and administration of the grants if approved.
Harrington explained the public hearing was for declaring the water system improvements completed and the grants used. Harrington said one was for $150,000 for raw water lines from Tenkiller Lake to the association's water processing plant. Total cost of the project was over $270,000. The second grant was for $250,000 and provided three sections of new water lines to upgrade the delivery system. Harrington said 40,000 feet of new line were laid, for a cost of over $343,000. The association makes up the difference between the grant and actual costs.
No public comments were made on the grants. Harrington asked that the grants be put on the agenda of the next county commissioners' meeting Monday.
District 1 Commissioner Bruce Tabor said the commissioners did not have a quorum to hold a regular meeting Monday. The commissioners will hold a special meeting at 10 a.m. Thursday to pay bills for the month.
Tabor said District 3 Commissioner Cleon Harrell was attending meeting in Texas on low-income housing. He did not say were District 2 Commissioner Lewis Warren was.
