A drug investigation by area law enforcement at a bar north of Muldrow led to the arrest of a Muldrow woman Wednesday morning, Sequoyah County Sheriff Johnny Philpot said.

Linda Gail Small, 39, of Muldrow was arrested and booked into the Sequoyah County Jail in Sallisaw after law enforcement agencies teamed up to serve a search warrant at a bar that also served as a home.

Philpot said officers found substances appearing to be marijuana, substances appearing to be methadone, paraphernalia commonly associated with the use and distribution of controlled dangerous substances, loaded firearms, and an undisclosed amount of money.

Small was booked into the county jail on charges of possession of a controlled dangerous substance, possession of marijuana, possession of a controlled dangerous substance with intent to distribute, possession of a firearm in commission of a felony, and possession of drug paraphernalia.

Small was also booked on an outstanding arrest warrant in Sequoyah County for obtaining merchandise by bogus check. Small was released on a $27,000 bond.

Philpot said officers involved in the investigation reported that additional arrests may be made pending further investigation.

Officers with the Sallisaw Police Department and the Fort Smith, Ark., Police Department also participated in the investigation.

After an experiment that lasted several months, the editors at Your TIMES decided this week to end the practice of allowing anonymous comments on our website because most of the comments involve personal attacks and unfounded accusations. These comments do not add information to a story, or add any true insight. While we believe in the free exchange of ideas, it had become evident that was not what was happening in the comment section of our website. Readers can also become fans of Your TIMES on Facebook and may comment on our postings there. Readers are also encouraged to write letters to the editor to the newspaper about matters of public interest. The newspaper circulation is several times that of the web site, so readership is much higher. Letters must include a name and phone number so that we may contact the writer to verify authenticity of the letter. Letters are limited to 500 words and one letter per writer per month is accepted.
