A Muldrow woman was injured and her 16-year-old daughter was killed Saturday afternoon after the woman lost control of her sport utility vehicle seven miles north of Muldrow, according to the Oklahoma Highway Patrol (OHP).

Nora Lee, 38, was driving a 1997 Ford Expedition east on a county road when the accident occurred at about 12:52 p.m. The OHP reported that Lee lost control of the vehicle for an unknown reason and went off the roadway, overcorrected, and overturned three times.

Lee's daughter, Jessica Lee, 16, was ejected about 35 feet from the vehicle. Jessica Lee, who was not wearing a seatbelt, was pronounced dead at the scene from injuries sustained in the crash, the OHP reported.

Nora Lee, who was not wearing a seatbelt, was ejected about 14 feet from the vehicle. She was admitted to Sparks Regional Medical Center in Fort Smith, Ark., and was listed in serious condition with internal trunk injuries.

The OHP reported that traveling at an unsafe speed was the cause of the collision.

After an experiment that lasted several months, the editors at Your TIMES decided this week to end the practice of allowing anonymous comments on our website because most of the comments involve personal attacks and unfounded accusations. These comments do not add information to a story, or add any true insight. While we believe in the free exchange of ideas, it had become evident that was not what was happening in the comment section of our website. Readers can also become fans of Your TIMES on Facebook and may comment on our postings there. Readers are also encouraged to write letters to the editor to the newspaper about matters of public interest. The newspaper circulation is several times that of the web site, so readership is much higher. Letters must include a name and phone number so that we may contact the writer to verify authenticity of the letter. Letters are limited to 500 words and one letter per writer per month is accepted.
