District 27 District Attorney's Drug Task Force teamed up with the Sequoyah County Sheriff's Office, the Cherokee Nation Marshal Service, and the Oklahoma State Bureau of Investigation to serve search warrants at two homes north of Vian.
During the search of the second home, agents reported finding an improvised explosive device. Members of the Oklahoma Highway Patrol bomb squad were called to the scene to take custody of the device, officials said.
Also during the search, agents found substances appearing to be methamphetamine and marijuana, along with items of paraphernalia commonly associated with the use of controlled dangerous substances.
Jeffrey Wayne Crook, 45, and Nella Crook, 40, both of Vian, were arrested.
The suspects were each booked into the Sequoyah County Jail in Sallisaw on charges of possession of a controlled dangerous substance, possession of an explosive device, possession of a firearm in commission of a felony, possession of marijuana, and possession of drug paraphernalia. Jail records indicate that both suspects are being held in lieu of a $26,500 bond.
During the search of the first residence, agents reported finding chemicals and equipment commonly associated with the manufacture of methamphetamine. No one was present at the first home at the time the search warrant was served, but, pending further investigation, arrests are expected in the case.
