Two Vian residents were arrested on various drug-related charges Wednesday afternoon as a result of an ongoing investigation into the illegal distribution of controlled dangerous substances in Sequoyah County.

Sequoyah County Sheriff's investigators and deputies teamed up with Vian Police officers to serve a search warrant for drugs at a home west of Vian.

Investigators and officers reported finding substances during the search appearing to be methamphetamine and marijuana, and items of paraphernalia associated with the distribution and use of controlled dangerous substances.

Louis Darrell Males and Meloday Jean Males, both of Vian, were arrested and booked into the Sequoyah County Jail in Sallisaw.

Louis Males, 55, was booked on charges of possession of marijuana with intent to distribute, possession of a controlled dangerous substance, and possession of drug paraphernalia. Jail records indicate that Males has numerous previous felony convictions, and is currently being held without bond.

Melody Males, 45, was booked on charges of possession of marijuana with intent to distribute, possession of a controlled dangerous substance, and possession of drug paraphernalia. Jail records indicate she is being held on a $13,000 bond.

Sheriff's investigators reported that officers with the Oklahoma Department of Wildlife Conservation also assisted in the investigation.

After serving the search warrant near Vian, investigators and deputies regrouped and teamed up with Sallisaw police officers to serve a search warrant at a Sallisaw home Wednesday afternoon.

Investigators reported finding during the search substances appearing to be methamphetamine, and alleged drug paraphernalia. Deputies noted that the home was located within 2,000 feet of a public school and a daycare facility.

Investigators reported that no one was present at the home at the time that the search warrant was served, but they will apply for arrest warrants for the suspects connected with the investigation.

After an experiment that lasted several months, the editors at Your TIMES decided this week to end the practice of allowing anonymous comments on our website because most of the comments involve personal attacks and unfounded accusations. These comments do not add information to a story, or add any true insight. While we believe in the free exchange of ideas, it had become evident that was not what was happening in the comment section of our website. Readers can also become fans of Your TIMES on Facebook and may comment on our postings there. Readers are also encouraged to write letters to the editor to the newspaper about matters of public interest. The newspaper circulation is several times that of the web site, so readership is much higher. Letters must include a name and phone number so that we may contact the writer to verify authenticity of the letter. Letters are limited to 500 words and one letter per writer per month is accepted.
