Dear Editor:

On behalf of the Sallisaw Lions Club Chairman Gus Perry and the Sallisaw Lions Club, we would like to say thank you for making the 2007 SLC Rodeo a great success.

Without volunteers like the Business Professional Women, the Salty Dog Crew/livestock workers, the many City of Sallisaw departments, and Lions Club members, the SLC Rodeo could not be done.

We would like to thank the IPRA and local contestants, the Old Fort Days Dandies, and all the rodeo fans who attended this year's event.

A special thanks to all of this year's sponsors, including:

Blue Ribbon Dodge, Pizza Hut, Oklahoma National Guard, U Design It, Dr. Jud Henshaw, Clif's Pharmacy, Best Western, Mallory-Martin Funeral Home, First National Bank, Sallisaw Ford, Pafford Ambulance Service, Charlie's Chicken, Armstrong Bank,

And Dr. Bob Wells, Caporales, Sallisaw Lumber Company, National Bank of Sallisaw, Reeder-Simco Truck Center, Ted's Building Supply, People Inc, Farmer's Co-op, Sallisaw Pharmacy, Western Sizzlin, Agent Funeral Home, Ole South, and the Chamber of Commerce for answering all those phone calls.

Many people do not realize the importance of our major fund-raising event, and how these funds are put back into our community. Without funds, the Sallisaw Lions Club would not be able to carry on the eye glasses program, help with the Sequoyah County Foster Children's Christmas Program, Boys and Girls Club, or be a part of the many other wonderful programs Sallisaw has to offer.

Again, a sincere thank you to all!

MARLEY ABELL

After an experiment that lasted several months, the editors at Your TIMES decided this week to end the practice of allowing anonymous comments on our website because most of the comments involve personal attacks and unfounded accusations. These comments do not add information to a story, or add any true insight. While we believe in the free exchange of ideas, it had become evident that was not what was happening in the comment section of our website. Readers can also become fans of Your TIMES on Facebook and may comment on our postings there. Readers are also encouraged to write letters to the editor to the newspaper about matters of public interest. The newspaper circulation is several times that of the web site, so readership is much higher. Letters must include a name and phone number so that we may contact the writer to verify authenticity of the letter. Letters are limited to 500 words and one letter per writer per month is accepted.
