Man charged with kidnapping, abuse

A Sequoyah County man is accused of pointing a weapon at a sheriff's deputy during a domestic dispute between the man and his girlfriend.

Leroy E. King, 37, of the Muldrow area was charged Wednesday with feloniously pointing a weapon, felony kidnapping, domestic abuse, and interruption of an emergency telephone call.

At about 5:06 a.m. June 12, a Sequoyah County Sheriff's deputy was dispatched to a home north of Muldrow in reference to a report of an ongoing domestic altercation.

When the deputy arrived, he reported hearing a woman screaming inside the home. As the deputy approached the front door, he reported seeing a woman on the floor in the living room area. While the deputy was attempting to open the door, King, the woman's boyfriend, came up to the front door and locked the deadbolt.

When the deputy ordered King to open the door, King did not follow the deputy's orders and instead walked away. At that time, the woman got up off the floor and unlocked the door.

The deputy then reported seeing King coming toward him out of the home holding a rifle.

The deputy reportedly backed away from King and contacted dispatch to request for backup.

Once backup officers arrived, they managed to distract King to allow the deputy to use a Taser on King, taking him into custody.

The woman told authorities that she and King had been drinking earlier in the night and that on their way home, they got into an argument. She reported that King got out of their vehicle near Moffett. The woman said she went and picked up her sister and fianc
