The Muldrow High School Teens Energetically Empowering Neighborhoods (TEEN) members recently repainted an U.S. map on the Muldrow Elementary Playground.

"The map had originally been painted about ten years ago by a telephone company and over the years the map had faded and in most places had completely disappeared," Niki Alderson, TEEN advisor, said.

Many of the TEEN Coalition members remembered having played on the map as elementary children and wanted the children at the elementary now to have the same memories, Alderson said.

"I remember racing to the map to have lunch with my best friends, Jordan Ryan, Heather Merrill and Trey Mabray. We use to spend recess playing games on the map as well," Sarah Webb, TEEN member, said.

Members meticulously outlined the map, redrew over half the states and painted the states in bright primary colors outlined in black, Alderson said.

"We really appreciate Sallisaw Lumber Company assisting us with this project by donating the paint," Christopher Larcade, TEEN Coalition president, said.

Members participating were Sarah Webb, Crystal Chambers, Christopher Larcade, Heather Clayton, Ashley McCleod, Monika Fischer, Heather Merrill, Marijke Fischer, Erin Martin, Tara McCleod, and Kyle Alderson.

Coalition members are getting ready for their annual toy drive and working in the Make A Wish Foundation's Gift Wrap Store, Alderson said.

After an experiment that lasted several months, the editors at Your TIMES decided this week to end the practice of allowing anonymous comments on our website because most of the comments involve personal attacks and unfounded accusations. These comments do not add information to a story, or add any true insight. While we believe in the free exchange of ideas, it had become evident that was not what was happening in the comment section of our website. Readers can also become fans of Your TIMES on Facebook and may comment on our postings there. Readers are also encouraged to write letters to the editor to the newspaper about matters of public interest. The newspaper circulation is several times that of the web site, so readership is much higher. Letters must include a name and phone number so that we may contact the writer to verify authenticity of the letter. Letters are limited to 500 words and one letter per writer per month is accepted.
