Muldrow 55, Heavener 20

MULDROW - The Bulldogs jumped on Heavener early and rolled to the win on Friday night in their season-opener at Aubrey J. Henshaw Bulldog Stadium.

Muldrow put five touchdowns on the scoreboard before halftime while cruising to a 35-7 lead. J.J. Gonzalez ran for two touchdowns and Noah Willimas tossed TD passes to Beau Brannon, Joe Fate Ransom and Brice Earls-all before the end of the second quarter.

The Bulldogs were not threatened in the second half while moving to 1-0 on the season. They'll travel to Spiro on Friday night for another non-district contest.

Glenpool 13, Sallisaw 0

GLENPOOL - Class 4A No. 5-ranked Glenpool handed the Black Diamonds their first shutout loss since 2003 on Friday night in the season-opener for both teams.

Glenpool took a 7-0 lead in the third quarter and sealed the victory in the fourth when defensive end Nick Bowling picked up a fumble and returned it 82 yards for a touchdown.

The shutout was the first against Sallisaw since the 2003 season-opener when the Diamonds lost to Coweta 3-0. They went on to advance to the Class 4A state semifinals that season.

Sallisaw's next game is Friday at Miami.

Stilwell 35, Roland 13

STILWELL - The Indians scored 16 unanswered points in the fourth quarter on Friday night to break open a close game against Roland.

The visiting Rangers trailed 19-13 in the third quarter and were driving to take the lead, but Stilwell's defense stiffened at the Indian 13-yard line and pushed Roland back.

Matt Mitchell had a big game for Stilwell, scoring three offensive touchdowns and returning an interception for another. Both of Roland's touchdowns came on Drew Roberts touchdown passes. One was a 26-yarder to Josh Angel and the other was a 27-yard strike to Travon Hudson.

Roland returns to action on Friday night at home against Westville.

Keys 26, Gore 6

KEYS - The Pirates fell to Keys in their season-opener on Friday night at the Cougars' field.

The win was the fourth for Keys in four meetings against Gore.

The Pirates will try to bounce back next week when they open play in District A-8 at Central on Friday night.

After an experiment that lasted several months, the editors at Your TIMES decided this week to end the practice of allowing anonymous comments on our website because most of the comments involve personal attacks and unfounded accusations. These comments do not add information to a story, or add any true insight. While we believe in the free exchange of ideas, it had become evident that was not what was happening in the comment section of our website. Readers can also become fans of Your TIMES on Facebook and may comment on our postings there. Readers are also encouraged to write letters to the editor to the newspaper about matters of public interest. The newspaper circulation is several times that of the web site, so readership is much higher. Letters must include a name and phone number so that we may contact the writer to verify authenticity of the letter. Letters are limited to 500 words and one letter per writer per month is accepted.
