The American Red Cross is conducting a community blood drive as part of National Preparedness Month.

The blood drive will be held from 2 to 7 p.m. Tuesday at Sallisaw First United Methodist Church.

During National Preparedness Month citizens are urged to take steps to prepare their homes and families for disasters or other types of emergencies. Each donor giving blood at the blood drive will receive a free Red Cross preparedness item and information on preparing a Family Preparedness Kit. In addition, one lucky donor will receive a free Red Cross Family First Aid Kit.

Red Cross Blood Services is now the provider for Sequoyah Memorial Hospital, so blood donated locally will help this community be prepared.

The National Preparedness Month Blood Drive will be held in the Multi-Purpose Room, which is located near the church's west entrance. The church is located at 2100 McGee Dr., next to the Lion's Club Park Walking Trail. Donors may make an appointment by calling 1-800-GIVE LIFE.
