SPECIAL TO YOUR TIMES, FIN AND FEATHER RESORT

The 39th annual Fin and Feather Fall Festival Arts and Crafts Show will be from Sept. 28 through 30.

This year's event will feature more than 200 exhibitors from seven different states gathered on the grounds of the Fin and Feather Resort near Gore, resort officials said.

Festival hours will be from 9 a.m. to 6 p.m. on Sept. 28 and 29, and from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. on Sept. 30. There is no admission charge for the show and parking is also free.

Since it inception in 1969, the festival has steadily increased in size every year and is now one of the largest in the region. The three-day event now occupies three permanent buildings and more than 100 outdoor tents on the resort property. While the majority of the exhibitors are from Oklahoma, craftspeople from Arkansas, Kansas, Missouri, Louisiana, Texas and Colorado will also have their work on display.

Exhibitors from the Sequoyah County area include Julie Cotherman and Janeen Johnson, both of Gore; Rosalind McCoy, Jim Anderson and Lester Cruse, all of Vian; Dale Robb and Hayes Copeland, of Sallisaw; Sandy Morgan and Jimmie Smith, both of Muldrow; and Becca Briley of Webbers Falls.

This year's displays will include chainsaw carvings, etched mirror photo frames, dual image photos, hand-poured candles, picture quilts, landscape photography, floral arrangements, cowboy boot purses, dog scarves, quilts, various jewelry, adult and children's clothing, woodworking, personalized photo frames and name plaques, potpourri, tie-dye T-shirts, furniture and more.

In addition to handmade arts and crafts, festival-goers will be able to enjoy a variety of foods. The Fin and Feather buffet will also open during the festival for indoor dining pleasure.

Fin and Feather Resort is located on State Highway 10A on the west side of Lake Tenkiller. For more information or directions, visit www.finandfeatherresort.com or call (918) 487-5148.

After an experiment that lasted several months, the editors at Your TIMES decided this week to end the practice of allowing anonymous comments on our website because most of the comments involve personal attacks and unfounded accusations. These comments do not add information to a story, or add any true insight. While we believe in the free exchange of ideas, it had become evident that was not what was happening in the comment section of our website. Readers can also become fans of Your TIMES on Facebook and may comment on our postings there. Readers are also encouraged to write letters to the editor to the newspaper about matters of public interest. The newspaper circulation is several times that of the web site, so readership is much higher. Letters must include a name and phone number so that we may contact the writer to verify authenticity of the letter. Letters are limited to 500 words and one letter per writer per month is accepted.
