"We have 350 doses of adult vaccine available through the Sequoyah County Health Department," Linda D. Hattaway Sequoyah County Health Department administrator, said.
According to recommendations by the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention, groups most at risk of complications from influenza include the following:
All children ages six to 23 months.
Adults 65 and older.
Persons aged two to 64 years with underlying chronic medical conditions.
All women who will be pregnant during the influenza season.
Children aged six months to 18 years old who are on chronic aspirin therapy.
The Sequoyah County Health Department plans to distribute its doses of adult vaccine Monday through Friday from 8 a.m. to 5 p.m. at 612 N. Oak St. in Sallisaw. Hattaway said people should wear short-sleeve shirts and bring Medicare cards if applicable. Children can be seen as a drop-in any week day from 8 a.m. to 5 p.m.
The health department also has 70 doses of Flu Mist, an inhaled vaccine, for direct health care providers and emergency medical service personnel who are under 50 years old.
