Christmas shoppers can get a head start on the season by attending the "Holiday Happenings: Sallisaw's Christmas Open House" from 1 to 5 p.m. Sunday.

In addition to shopping and enjoying refreshments at the participating stores, shoppers will also have the chance to win one of 16 prizes and a grand prize valued at over $750, Judy Martens, Sallisaw Chamber of Commerce executive vice president, said.

Maps directing shoppers to participating merchants can be picked up at any of the stores. The following merchants will have their doors open Sunday and all will have refreshments.
