Jason Bowling of Roland faces one count of second-degree burglary in connection with the theft at the school.
According to court records, Roland Police Sgt. Jeremy Day investigated a break-in at Roland School's technology education building. Officer David Goode took the initial report from the reporting party, who was a teacher who uses the building. The teacher reported that he only knew of two items that were stolen during the burglary, a Sony HD camcorder and a Dell laptop computer. The items were believed to have been taken sometime between June 24 and July 7. During that time the alarm was not in service due to work being conducted on the building, according to court records. The teacher was able to provide a serial number on the camcorder, which led Day to discover that Bowling had pawned the camcorder at Midland Pawn in Fort Smith, Ark., on June 29.
During a police interview with Bowling, Bowling allegedly told Day that he wanted to cooperate with Day in the investigation. Bowling allegedly said a minor assisted him in the burglary and they broke a window to gain entry in the building. He said the burglary occurred about four days before he pawned the camcorder. When asked where the computer was, Bowling said he sold the computer for $100. He allegedly told police that the juvenile who aided in the burglary did not take anything, except some change, and he also ate some food that was in a refrigerator.
