Sequoyah County Sheriff Johnny Philpot said Sallisaw Police detectives reported Robert Malcom Ellis of Sallisaw and Edna Marie Jones of Muldrow were arrested and booked into the Sallisaw City Jail after chemicals commonly used in the manufacture of methamphetamine were found in a vehicle during a traffic stop.
Ellis, 41, was booked on charges of endeavoring to manufacture a controlled dangerous substance, possession of a controlled dangerous substance, possession of marijuana, and possession of drug paraphernalia.
Jones, 42, was booked on charges of endeavoring to manufacture a controlled dangerous substance, bringing contraband into a jail facility, possession of a controlled dangerous substance, possession of marijuana, and possession of drug paraphernalia.
Philpot said information gathered during the city's investigation led to a county investigation and the serving of a search warrant at Ellis' home north of Sallisaw.
At the home, officers found substances appearing to be methamphetamine and substances appearing to be marijuana, along with paraphernalia commonly associated with the use of drugs, and chemicals and equipment commonly used to manufacture methamphetamine.
As a result of the county's investigation, Philpot said Ellis and Jones were transferred to the Sequoyah County Jail in Sallisaw where they were booked in on additional charges of endeavoring to manufacture a controlled dangerous substance, possession of a controlled dangerous substance, marijuana, and drug paraphernalia. Philpot said jail records indicate Ellis has two previous felony convictions. Ellis and Jones are currently being held without bond.
