Lady Tigers Knock Off Warner In Double OT

The Central Lady Tigers got their season off to a promising start with a 38-36 win over Warner in a double-overtime thriller Tuesday night in Sallisaw.

The Central boys also won, topping Warner 50-29 in their Big Eight Conference opener.

In the girls' game, Central outscored the visitors 6-4 in the second overtime period to give head coach Scott Lowe a winning debut.

Senior guard Blair Haggard led the way with 12 points and was joined in double figures by freshman Kayla Lattimore with 11. Bunny Postoak added eight, Sarah Winans five and Lacey Wallace two.

Warner was paced by Jaclyn Toney's 10 points. The Lady Eagles grabbed a two-point halftime lead and extended it to six by the start of the fourth quarter. However, Central forced overtime with an 8-2 surge in the fourth quarter.

The Tiger boys got a game-high 11 points from sophomore guard Jose Tarin. Jake Goodwin added eight, Jace Coffman seven, Stephen Branham six, Tyler Kutil six, Skyler Rogers four, Andy Edwards four, Brenden Gentry two and Stevie Morris two.

Central cruised to a 27-14 halftime lead and continued to pull away after the break.

Next up for Central is a Friday night trip to Gore.
