A Sallisaw woman was arrested on numerous check fraud, theft, and drug-related charges recently as a result of a joint investigation by Sequoyah County Sheriff's investigators and Sallisaw Police detectives.
Sequoyah County Sheriff Johnny Philpot said investigators reported that after sharing information with Sallisaw detectives in a check forgery case, they were able to secure a search warrant on the suspect's home south of Sallisaw.
During a search of the home on Dec. 2, investigators reported finding evidence relating to check fraud and theft investigations being conducted by both agencies, Philpot said. Investigators also found substances appearing to be methamphetamine and marijuana and items of paraphernalia commonly associated with the use of controlled dangerous substances.
Tanya Michelle Wilson, 31, of Sallisaw was arrested and booked into the Sequoyah County Jail in Sallisaw on various charges, including credit card fraud, possession of a controlled dangerous substance, possession of marijuana, possession of drug paraphernalia, five counts of uttering a forged instrument, two counts of knowingly concealing stolen property, and bringing contraband into a jail facility, Philpot said. She was released Friday on her own recognizance.
Jail records indicated that Wilson has three previous felony convictions.
Philpot said investigators also reported that pending further investigation, Wilson may face additional check and credit card fraud-related charges.
