Football roundup: Sallisaw rolls past Muldrow

Sallisaw scored four unanswered touchdowns in the second half to break open a close game and storm to a 44-7 win over Muldrow on Friday night at Perry F. Lattimore Stadium.

The Black Diamonds moved to 4-1 overall and 1-1 in District 4A-4 while dropping Muldrow to 3-2 and 0-2.

Sallisaw scored first on Ryon Mefford's seven-yard touchdown run and Carlos Nieto added a 20-yard field goal to put the Diamonds up 10-0. A one-yard run by Dillon Oden pulled the Bulldogs within 10-7 with 1:02 left in the half, but Sallisaw drove down the field for another score. Matt Oberste capped the drive with a one-yard run to give Sallisaw a 16-7 lead at halftime.

Offensive lineman Derek Brewer recovered a fumble in the end zone and Martin Wigg returned an interception 23 yards for another touchdown in the third quarter. Oberste ran 11 yards for a touchdown in the fourth period and Jeromy Davenport sealed the victory with a six-yard run in the final minute.

Sallisaw will host Fort Gibson on Friday night, while Muldrow will play at home against Hilldale.

Talihina 21, Central 13

Jordan Eagleroad's third-quarter touchdown run lifted Talihina to a 21-13 win over Central on Friday night at Tiger Stadium in a battle of unbeaten teams in District A-6.

Eagleroad scored from two yards out to break a 13-13 deadlock and James Cody Brigance intercepted a pass at the goal-line in the final minutes to seal the victory for Talihina (5-0, 4-0).

Central dropped to 4-1 overall and 3-1 in the district despite a 45-yard Bubba Dickens touchdown run and a two-yard TD by J. Johnson.

Central will be back in action on Thursday night when the Tigers host Gore.

Hugo 30, Roland 17

HUGO - The Buffaloes snapped Roland's three-game winning streak on Friday night as Jordan Smith passed for two touchdowns and Willie McAlester ran for two more.

Roland, which lost starting running back Teven Thompson to an injury on the first play of the game, dropped to 3-2 overall and 1-1 in District 3A-4. Jeremy Morris and Drew Roberts both ran for a touchdown for the Rangers and Jeff Roberts kicked a 22-yard field goal.

Roland will host Metro Christian on Friday night.

Webbers Falls 40, Agra 0

WEBBERS FALLS - The Warriors picked up a non-district win on Friday night at Smokey Cox Stadium to push their record to 3-2.

Webbers Falls will return to District C-4 play on Friday night when the Warriors host Sasakwa.
