A Bunch man was recently sentenced to 20 years in prison after he was arrested in May for operating an alleged chop shop at his home north of Marble City.

Sequoyah County District Attorney Richard Gray announced Tuesday that Dennis Robbins, 28, pleaded guilty to one count of operating a chop shop, three counts of possession of a stolen vehicle, three counts of altering vehicle identification, one count of third-degree arson, and one count of possession of a controlled dangerous substance with intent to distribute.

Robbins had two former felony convictions.

According to court records, Robbins was originally charged with 17 various felony counts. An investigation by the Sequoyah County Sheriff's Department led to Robbins' arrest. Robbins' wife, Dewanna Robbins, allegedly told police that there was stolen property, stolen vehicles, and vehicle parts at their home. She admitted to police that she and her husband broke into several storage units. A search of the home revealed various stolen vehicles, 4-wheelers, and vehicle parts, as well as substances appearing to be methamphetamine.

After an experiment that lasted several months, the editors at Your TIMES decided this week to end the practice of allowing anonymous comments on our website because most of the comments involve personal attacks and unfounded accusations. These comments do not add information to a story, or add any true insight. While we believe in the free exchange of ideas, it had become evident that was not what was happening in the comment section of our website. Readers can also become fans of Your TIMES on Facebook and may comment on our postings there. Readers are also encouraged to write letters to the editor to the newspaper about matters of public interest. The newspaper circulation is several times that of the web site, so readership is much higher. Letters must include a name and phone number so that we may contact the writer to verify authenticity of the letter. Letters are limited to 500 words and one letter per writer per month is accepted.
