Jason Bowling, 19, faces up to a year in prison and up to a $5,000 fine if convicted of the felony.
Moffett Police Officer Kathy Luper reported that she first received a call on Jan. 20 about the theft of two scooters from a Moffett home. The victim reported to Moffett officers that she owned two scooters and kept them underneath her carport at her home. She told officers that she possibly knew who stole the scooters, indicating three suspects, including Bowling and two juveniles, all of Roland.
An investigation by Roland Police Sgt. Jeremy Day, after the woman filed a complaint with the Roland Police Department against the three teens, led to the recovery of both stolen scooters.
Day reportedly went to a home in Roland and retrieved one of the two stolen scooters, which was taken into evidence. The second scooter, which was damaged and covered in mud, was discovered on a county road.
All three suspects were interviewed. Bowling allegedly admitted to being involved in the theft. Bowling allegedly told Day that his truck was used to haul the scooters when they were stolen. The two juveniles were allegedly present during the theft.
