James Michael Labone, 52, of Sallisaw was bound over on charges of lewd molestation and indecent exposure. He also faces a misdemeanor charge of obstructing an officer.
According to court records, the alleged assault occurred in Sallisaw on May 27. A local couple who reported the incident to police after they heard the 7-year-old girl running down the street in front of their home, yelling for help.
The girl told the couple that she was playing on the computer in her aunt's bedroom when the suspect, first identified as Edward Cascaden, came over to her and started touching her inappropriately and then exposed himself. The girl fled the home to get help.
Police reported that when they went across the street to the home where the molestation allegedly occurred, they asked Labone to come outside. Labone allegedly told police, "I didn't do anything to her."
Labone was detained for investigative purposes and was taken the Sallisaw City Jail. Police later discovered that Labone had given a false name to officers and had been previously convicted of a sex crime.
