A reunion will be held at the old McKey School Community Building from 9:30 a.m. to 3 p.m. Oct. 6.

"The past 22 years our reunions have renewed friendships and given us an update on McKey classmates' lives," Jackie Snow Pop, reunion organizer, said. "Our history books have preserved many moments of history and memories."

During the spring several volunteers in the McKey community have renovated the bathrooms, kitchen, and front windows of McKey's old school building. The current building was built in 1940. The first school was built on the same plot in 1908.

"Mark your calendar Oct. 6. Bring your family and friends for a day of fun. Bring a covered dish for lunch at 12:15 p.m. The 13th reunion school group picture will be taken at 1:15 p.m. in front of McKey School Building. Bring a Show and Tell for the school program at 1:30 p.m.," Pop said. "See you at school!"

The old McKey School Building and property became the McKey Community Center and is used for church, elections, school and family reunions, and cakewalks for building expenses.

After an experiment that lasted several months, the editors at Your TIMES decided this week to end the practice of allowing anonymous comments on our website because most of the comments involve personal attacks and unfounded accusations. These comments do not add information to a story, or add any true insight. While we believe in the free exchange of ideas, it had become evident that was not what was happening in the comment section of our website. Readers can also become fans of Your TIMES on Facebook and may comment on our postings there. Readers are also encouraged to write letters to the editor to the newspaper about matters of public interest. The newspaper circulation is several times that of the web site, so readership is much higher. Letters must include a name and phone number so that we may contact the writer to verify authenticity of the letter. Letters are limited to 500 words and one letter per writer per month is accepted.
