Brannon, a junior wide receiver/defensive back, scored the go-ahead touchdown on a 68-yard pass play in the fourth quarter and then sealed the win for the Bulldogs by intercepting a pass in the closing minutes.
As a result, the Bulldogs are 1-0 for the first time since the 2002 season when they opened with a win over Roland.
"At times, I was excited with what I saw," Muldrow head coach Kyle Fowler said of his team's performance. "Other times, I thought we got tired and made some mental mistakes. The main thing is we got a win."
Muldrow quarterback Noah Williams led the offense by completing 10-of-16 passes for 177 yards and one touchdown. Brannon was the top receiver with four catches for 113 yards.
The Bulldogs' ground game managed just 80 yards rushing, but did account for the game's first touchdown. After Muldrow's defense forced Heavener to punt on the opening drive of the night, the Bulldogs scored on their first possession. Tailback J.J. Gonzales carried the ball over the goal-line from seven yards out to give Muldrow a 7-0 lead with 4:37 left in the first quarter.
The Bulldogs shut out Heavener until late in the third period, when Ben Dittrich got the Wolves back in the game. Dittrich, a foreign exchange student from Austria, threw a 25-yard touchdown pass to Chad Foresee to pull the home team within 7-6 with 3:16 remaining in the third quarter.
Dittrich later put the Wolves in front with a 42-yard touchdown run, making it 12-7 with 5:13 left in the game.
Muldrow responded with a big play as Williams tossed a short pass to Brannon, who went 68 yards for the winning touchdown.
Heavener tried to rally in the final moments and used a 42-yard pass from Dittrich to Josh Munoz to threaten with 1:36 to go. However, Brannon intercepted a pass on the next play to preserve the Muldrow lead.
