Softball round-up: Gore strikes back against Keys

PARK HILL - Gore avenged a loss from earlier in the season against Keys by notching a 4-1 win over the Lady Cougars on Thursday afternoon.

Sophomore pitcher Kera Smith ran her record to 6-1 on the season by shutting out Keys in six of the seven innings.

She got offensive support from her teammates, who scored three runs in the top of the fifth inning as Gore went up 3-0.

Keys pulled a run back in the bottom of the inning before the Lady Pirates added an insurance run in the top of the seventh to seal the win.

Caitlin Cawhorn, Macy Moseley, Erin Qualls and Meaghan Cawhorn all had hits for Gore, which improved to 12-5.
