A Sallisaw man and a Muldrow man were charged recently in Sequoyah County District Court in Sallisaw with lewd molestation, relating to separate incidents involving juvenile girls.

Joel William Allen, 38, of Sallisaw was charged Friday with five counts of felony lewd molestation for the alleged assault of two sisters, who were 12 and 8 at the time Allen allegedly first touched them inappropriately.

According to court records, one of the girls told police that Allen would ask her to come to his bed and sleep with him when the girls' mother left for work and would touch her inappropriately, allegedly mistaking the girl for her mother.

Allen admitted that he did touch the older girl inappropriately "once or so" while he was asleep, but the girl woke him and said that she wasn't her mother and to stop. He also admitted to other instances, which the girls told police about. But Allen allegedly told police that he "would never touch either of the girls intentionally in a bad way."

A Muldrow man is also facing a lewd molestation charge involving a 14-year-old female relative.

David Manuel Moles, 57, was charged Sept. 7 with lewd molestation. According to court records, Moles is accused of touching the victim inappropriately.

After an experiment that lasted several months, the editors at Your TIMES decided this week to end the practice of allowing anonymous comments on our website because most of the comments involve personal attacks and unfounded accusations. These comments do not add information to a story, or add any true insight. While we believe in the free exchange of ideas, it had become evident that was not what was happening in the comment section of our website. Readers can also become fans of Your TIMES on Facebook and may comment on our postings there. Readers are also encouraged to write letters to the editor to the newspaper about matters of public interest. The newspaper circulation is several times that of the web site, so readership is much higher. Letters must include a name and phone number so that we may contact the writer to verify authenticity of the letter. Letters are limited to 500 words and one letter per writer per month is accepted.
