A Cookson woman was taken to an area hospital after sustaining injuries in a Friday wreck near Gore.

The Oklahoma Highway Patrol (OHP) reported that the accident occurred at about 1:25 p.m. nearly two and a half miles east of Vian on Dwight Mission Road.

Todd G. Cruz, 38, of Cookson was driving a 1986 Chevrolet S-10 south on Dwight Mission Road when he failed to negotiate a curve. Cruz's vehicle went off the south side of the road, striking a ditch and partially going through a fence before coming to a stop, according to the OHP.

Cruz was not injured in the accident, but a passenger in his vehicle, Anita L. Tinsley, 49, also of Gore, was admitted to Sparks Regional Medical Center in Fort Smith, Ark., in stable condition with internal and external and head injuries.

The OHP reported that the cause of the collision was unsafe speed on a curve. Neither Cruz nor Tinsley was wearing a seatbelt at the time of the accident.

After an experiment that lasted several months, the editors at Your TIMES decided this week to end the practice of allowing anonymous comments on our website because most of the comments involve personal attacks and unfounded accusations. These comments do not add information to a story, or add any true insight. While we believe in the free exchange of ideas, it had become evident that was not what was happening in the comment section of our website. Readers can also become fans of Your TIMES on Facebook and may comment on our postings there. Readers are also encouraged to write letters to the editor to the newspaper about matters of public interest. The newspaper circulation is several times that of the web site, so readership is much higher. Letters must include a name and phone number so that we may contact the writer to verify authenticity of the letter. Letters are limited to 500 words and one letter per writer per month is accepted.
