Gans can't move up or down in the district standings, so the Grizzlies will be looking to maintain their momentum on Friday night in their regular season finale at Cave Springs.

Kickoff at Hornet Field in Bunch is set for 7:30 p.m.

The Grizzlies of head coach Trent Holt are 8-1 overall and locked into second place in District B-4 with a 6-1 record in league play. Top-ranked Weleetka has already clinched the district crown and neither Central nor Porum can catch Gans, regardless of what happens on Friday.

Gans secured the second-place playoff berth with a 34-12 triumph over Central last week and will be looking to build on to its current five-game winning streak.

The Grizzlies will play at home in the first round of the playoffs next week against the loser of Friday's game between Welch and Copan in District B-3.

Cave Springs made the playoffs a year ago and gave the Grizzlies a tough game in Week 10 before losing 38-26 in Gans. This year, the Hornets have struggled to a 1-8 record overall and a 1-6 mark in the district.

Cave Springs' lone win came two weeks ago, when the Hornets topped Wetumka 32-28. Senior tailback Eddie Rabbitt rushed for a season-high 174 yards in that victory, scoring three times. Jordan Turner ran for the other two touchdowns.

Last week, the Hornets traveled to Weleetka and were defeated 46-0 by the defending state champions.

In Gans' win over Central this past Thursday, the Grizzlies had three backs rush for at least 100 yards while pulling away from the Tigers. Senior Jake Knapp led the way with 15 carries for 163 yards and three touchdowns. Senior Heath Branham ran 21 times for 110 yards and sophomore quarterback Nick Woodruff piled up 140 yards on 17 carries, scoring on runs of 14 and two yards.

Knapps' biggest run came early in the fourth quarter, when he broke loose for a 96-yard touchdown that put the Grizzlies up 20-6 and changed the momentum of the contest.

Knapp, who sees action at both tailback and fullback on offense, leads Gans with 1,446 yards and 23 touchdowns on 144 carries this season. Branham has run 98 times for 591 yards and six TDs, while Woodruff has gained 303 yards and scored five times.

Through the air, Woodruff has completed 35 passes for 552 yards and nine touchdowns with just three interceptions. Kameron Pastore has caught a team-high 13 passes for 181 yards, while Knapp has nine receptions for 87 yards.
